Crack Up Going Through The Let’s Play Archives

lets play archive

It has been a couple of weeks since I published my article about vNES giving all of us who remember the days a nostalgic kick in the junk.  For those of you who missed it, NES had 5 of 10 of the most difficult games of all time.

After a certain point, some games quit being fun because they are just too hard, but strangely, we’re just dying to see how to beat the hardest part and to see what comes after.

Today, I ran across not one, but two articles on Digg recommending this site as a top… Click to continue...

Animators and Icons At War

As you can see by my new logo, I’ve been playing around with Adobe Photoshop a little bit.  This probably isn’t going to be my final logo, but it’s a decent start I would say.

Animation vs. AnimatorDuring my time working with photoshop, I’ve had a few major battles trying to get photoshop to do what I wanted it to.  None of my problems were ever as bad as this Animator having to defend himself from a hostile takeover from the Animation.

The first time I watched this video I cracked up.  You seriously have to watch it 2 or 3 times to catch all the clever uses for each tool in photoshop. … Click to continue...

5 Flash Maze Challenges to Strain Your Brain

Mazes have always had a special place in my heart.  As a child, always loved solving puzzles and mazes.  Children of the 80′s can certainly remember doing tons of Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles mazes…

With the invention of Flash and Shockwave, we are now able to play highly dynamic mazes that will make your brain (and your mouse hand) go crazy.  So with out further rambling, I present to you 5 of the most challenging and fun maze games online!
The World’s Hardest Game
While I believe that the world’s hardest games are actually found on the NES, this game certainly has made me rethink that.  The object is simple.  Using your keyboard, navigate your red square to collect… Click to continue...

Why Screamer Radio is the Best Free Internet Music Player

screamer banner

I have a simple confession that many people can identify with.  I am an music junkie…  I can’t help it; I would listen to music 24/7 if my work and family let me.

Last month, I was really high on the Spotify Music Player, but Spotify noticed I was listening from a US ip and put a 14 day limit on my listening.  I could hunt down a proxy server in the UK to listen through if I really wanted to.

Instead, I remember my all time favorite music player of all time (yes, intentionally said all time twice to make the… Click to continue...

Play NES Games Free Online and the Top 3 Things You Remember about NES Games

The NES Console - Home of the hardest games in the world

I am a child of the 80′s.  When it comes to video games, I have seen the progression starting with NES and moving forward to now.  While graphics may have become more realistic and mind blowing, and controls may have become more sophisticated and user interactive, nothing compares to the fun I had playing NES (and maybe a handful of Genesis/SNES) games.  There are three major things I remember about NES games:

1)  Anyone who had a Nintendo Entertainment System (the original) can remember frustratingly blowing on game cartridges hoping they could insert them into the system in just… Click to continue...

Leah Waddill: Where are you from? Where is most of your work done?

Jeff Cohn: I was born and raised in Delran NJ, which is a small suburb of Philadelphia. I moved to Philly after college and have lived in or around the city for the past ten years.

Most of my work is shot in my home studio located in North East Philadelphia. My living room is converted into a studio space, which provides the best of both worlds; convenient location and I have my TV and DVD’s handy while MUA’s… Click to continue...

Props to the Deadliest Warrior

I’m hooked.  Seriously, I can’t stop watching this show.  Over the last 10 years, I haven’t watched a whole lot of TV and have never watched an entire season of a show the first night it airs, but the Deadliest Warrior is without a doubt the most addictive show I have ever watched.  If you’ve ever had any interest in combat at all, you will find this show very fascinating!

The concept of the show is extremely simple; take two warrior classes at some point in history, compare their weapons and fighting style, and run a simulation to see who wins.  Some of the 10 match-ups include: Apache vs. Gladiator, Spartan vs. Ninja, Yakuza vs. Mafia, and William Wallace vs. Shaka Zulu.

Props to my Top 5 YouTube Dance Videos

I can’t dance.  It’s not a lack of rhythm, but more a lack of fluidity.  The first two words that come to mind when watching me dance (which doesn’t really happen) are rigor mortis.  And that is why these videos are so hysterically impressive to me.  One of these videos is actually the most popular YouTube video of all time with over 124 million views!

In no particular order:

The Soulja Boy performed by a class of what looks like 5 year olds. This is just wrong… so so wrong…

Kollaboration 2001 – The first kid isn’t bad, but I’m convinced the second kid is missing several bones in his body. That or they are made of elastic. I have no idea how anyone can strobe… Click to continue...

Props to Lifehacker – Ideas that get Things Done

There are some sites I only check about once a week for new content;  5-10 minutes later, I’m all caught up.  Lifehacker, I check 2 or 3 times a day and still rarely keep up with all the content and information I want to read and explore.  Lifehacker is a gold mine of tips and downloads for getting things done.  I already mentioned Lifehacker is a great source for cutting edge music software, but I didn’t mention all the other amazing things you can find there.

Lifehacker constantly posts new and useful software for not only Windows, but Mac and Linux as well.  A couple of times a month, Lifehacker runs Hive Five where the readers can reply… Click to continue...

Props to Amazing Music by Ronald Jenkees – New CD “Disorganized Fun”

Ronald Jenkees New CD Disorganized Fun

Ronald Jenkees New CD Disorganized Fun

Discovering sweet “underground” music is always a rewarding experience.  For some reason, I couldn’t stop smiling the first time I heard messin with a guitar sound on YouTube.  In fact, before you finish reading this post, start it playing in a new tab/window (if you’re not at work or in class).  Don’t get thrown off by his cartoony (I made up a new word!) voice and unusual hat obsession; this guy LOVES music and has more fun playing the music than we do listening.  I heard about Ronald Jenkees a little over a year ago, and it seems he has become increasingly popular… Click to continue...
