Daniel Scocco: Free eBook about Making Money Blogging

Some people have amazing marketing ideas and know how to generate hype.  Daniel Scocco from Daily Blog Tips struck gold by creating a laptop giveaway for reviewing his new free eBook, Make Money Blogging.  Before I even get to the review, I just want to point out that dozens if not hundreds of reviews will be written about his eBook generating a long lasting stream of marketing for him. Props!

As a daily reader of Daniel’s blog, I was very excited to hear he published a free eBook.  While reading the many awesome blogger/make money online websites, it is easy to become lost, overwhelmed, and/or frustrated trying to find the information you want.  This is where Daniel’s eBook comes in and sweeps the reader off their feet.  He wastes no time with introductions about himself and goes straight into the basics of setting up a blog.  If you already blog, most of the information is old news; however, if you’ve been thinking about starting a blog and just haven’t, he gives some nice pointers about where to start, what you need, and things to consider about your blog.dbtlogo

The first real chapter is about blog contents.  All Pro Bloggers preach writing good quality content over lots of content, but Daniel brought up a new idea that I had never considered:  The Killer Article.  As a rookie blogger, I haven’t really put a lot of thought into the strategy of my content.  I’ve read all about SEO and killer titles (which he also talks about), but building your blog around killer articles with normal posts in between is really revolutionary to me.  The rest of the stuff in the content sections is pretty standard stuff: writing headings, picking topics, posting frequency, etc…

Design and utility is the title of the second chapter.  I wish I had read this chapter before I started my blog.  After a month of blogging, I’ve figured out a lot of this stuff on my own (or read about it on someone’s blog), but having this eBook as a quick reference for WordPress themes and logos would have been extremely handy.  Navigation logistics are sometimes forgotten in favor of a pretty theme; Daniel points out a few pitfalls to watch out for and a few things that you’ll want to add to your blog if they aren’t included in the theme.  My favorite part of this section was picking a priority.  It’s easy to start writing a blog with a general goal like making top 10,000 Alexa or making $1000/month, but narrowing your objective down to 4 or 5 goals will really help bring direction to your blog.

Daniel covers networking next.  While I think most of this section is very straightforward, I also think it is helpful to have the step by step directions mentioned in this eBook.  It is easy want to start networking or know you need to start networking, and it is an entirely different thing to actually start networking.  Again, this chapter offers some step by step instructions that can be very helpful if you don’t know where to start.

Chapter four discusses promotions.  Daniel is brilliant at putting his ideas in practice for promoting his site.  I took three main things from this chapter: consistent quality comments on other people’s blogs are better than pointless “great article” comments, custom tailor your guest articles to the site you are submitting to, and promote your killer articles!

The final chapter is about monetizing your blog.  While he doesn’t include as many sources for monetizing as John Chow’s eBook, he does detail the strengths of each type of monetizing strategy and the best ways to implement them.  You’ll notice that I have a few Google Adsense banners on my page (they are easy to setup, so that’s what I started with), but they aren’t totally in your face.  I think this eBook really gives beginner bloggers (myself included) fantastic insight on how to make money blogging without killing your readership.

There are plenty of free eBooks out there about how to make money online and how to make money blogging.  Daniel from Daily Blog Tips has written one of the most straight forward and easy to read eBooks on the topic that I have read.  If you’re already making good money blogging, you probably won’t get a ton out of it, but if you’re just getting your feet wet or have hit a wall that you can’t seem to get past, this eBook by Daniel Scocco is for you!

If you found this review helpful please share the love to Twitter or Facebook ;-)  I look forward to hearing your feedback.

I find a lot of ebooks that has some good stuff in it. I find I can keep my blog updated if I am writing about something I am currently working on. New content comes easy..it’s time when I am writing about things I have no knowledge or interest I have trouble with.

I grab all the free ebooks I can on my topic if only for articles or posting ideas…

Where can we pick up a copy of that free ebook…

@Brenda – The eBook is great. I hope you enjoy it. Daily Blog Tips is an awesome resource that I check Mon-Fri

@blksista – I’m glad you’re enjoying my blog. I was always very skeptical of blogs until the last year. There were only one or two that I actually read, but after talking with a few people I’ve had a change of heart and really learned a ton.

@KimberlyD – you can get the free ebook by clicking on that link. I hope you enjoy it as much as I did.

@Chele007 – Currently Leah is not blogging. She just started a new job and has been busy with that, but you can expect her to start interviewing people from the modeling/photography world in the next week or two. We’re going to try to have at least 2 interviews per month. if you have any questions you think would be good for interviewing models or photographers either e-mail me or leave a comment.

Thanks to everyone for your feedback. I look forward to hearing more from you all ;-) I’ll be checking out your personal pages/ehow’s tonight. Beware!

Great reading, I enjoyed the contents, and glanced through it, and found it amazing, so much to read, so once again to grasp every bit of it, so I can put it to practical use.

    Regards

You can evolve these killer posts too.

Or you can use a popular post that’s shorter as a jumping off point for a longer article going into greater depth.

I should write a post about how to do this, because I’ve done it several times.
