After reading of the comments from my most recent post about a blogging schedule and Leo Babauta’s article about How to Deliver the Highest Impact with Each Post, I really started thinking about ways to really capture both of these ideas together.
If you’re posting killer articles day after day, but not seeing significant growth the problem might not be your content. Your problem might be where you are publishing your article.
Guest posts are one of the most powerful ways to drive traffic to any blog. Even the “A-list” bloggers like Daniel Scocco use the power of guest posts to drastically increase the traffic to their blogs.
Instead of posting amazing content 5 days a week on a blog that isn’t getting any traffic, try submitting your best one or two articles to other blogs in your niche. Obviously, a high traffic and well respected blog is the bests place to share, but even smaller blogs in your niche can send you new readers.
One of the best ways to pick which blogs to submit your articles to is to browse through each blog’s archives. Notice not just the subjects of posts, but also specifically find other guests posts. Use these posts as a measuring stick for both the quality and style of your content.
On Daily Blog Tips, for example, a huge number of the guest posts are lists of some sort. In fact, more than half the lists on DBT are written by guest authors. If you have a killer list article that you just finished up or have in queue to post next week, consider submitting it instead.
While it is true that daily posting will bring readers back more frequently than posting once or twice a week, but people have to come to your site before they can become regulars in the first place. Don’t look at it as a loss of content on your site, but a gain of credibility and potential followers from another. After you see the results, you’ll wonder why you didn’t start sooner.

That is a great idea. I personally am trying to still blog 5 days a week and put out a couple of guest posts – but that is because I am trying to fast track! I was reading somewhere that guest blogging is becoming the new article marketing – and I am starting to believe it.

Guest posts do two things for you: First, they put your article in front of far more readers than you would have on your own site (and different readers). Second, they give you extra credibility. When an authority approves of your work, it makes you far more trustworthy.

I always thought that it’s better to post a good article on your own than other’s blogs. That selfish thinking needs to stop and I need to start guest blogging on other tech blogs, somehow

It seems like a really bad idea to give your best posts to another blog, but it actually makes sense when you think about it.
Usually, once people are on your blog, there is a pretty decent chance they’ll come back. On the other hand, if someone never comes to you blog, you don’t even get the chance to gain or lose them as a reader.
By having your stuff on high traffic sites, your writing will be exposed to a much larger audience; it is your first impression, so using your best articles lets you make the best of it.

Guest posting earns for a blogger naturally earned backlinks which are considered of much higher value than blog rolls in the eyes of the search engines. That’s what I heard experts say. :)

You are totally right about that too. Search engines weigh links different based on what section of the page they are found in. Getting a dofollow link from a reputable site can help your SEO which will gain you even more traffic.

True, guest posting is really powerful. Its just surprising not a lot of bloggers are really taking advantage of it. Maybe they’re lazy.

Maybe it is being lazy. Maybe lack of time. I think it is probably mostly just not really believing how powerful guest posts are.
I know you’ve seen how many new readers a guest posts on a big blog can bring you. Once you’ve seen the effects, it’s hard to imagine not using guest posts for promotion.
